Aggregate Loan Limit Increases for Health Professions Students

The U.S. Department of Education recently announced an increase in the aggregate loan limit for health professions students in Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) GEN-08-04/FP-08-04.

Effective April 14, 2008, the date of DCL GEN-08-04/FP-08-04, the aggregate loan limit for graduate and professional students enrolled in certain approved health profession programs was increased from $189,125 to $224,000. This increase is for unsubsidized Stafford loans only and will allow medical students to borrow additional funds at the 6.80 percent interest rate.
