Notice of Proposed Rulemaking: College Cost Reduction and Access Act

The notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) for changes to student loans enacted by the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRAA) was published in the July 1, 2008 Federal Register. This NPRM provides for a 45-day comment period, which means the deadline for sending comments to the Department of Education is August 15, 2008. Negotiators did reach consensus on this proposed regulations package.

If you’d like to submit comments using the Federal Rulemaking Portal, visit www.regulations.gov and follow these instructions:

• Under the "Comment or Submission" heading, type in the Docket ID, ED-2008-OPE-0009, and then click “go."
• Click on the icon "Send a Comment or Submission" to bring up a Public Comment and Submission Form. 
• Complete the "Requested Submitter Information" fields (you can add an attachment).
• Click on the "Next Step" button to view comments prior to submitting.
• Click on the "Submit" button.
