Exit Counseling Package Now Available
OGSLP now offers an exit counseling package designed to assist schools’ efforts to understand and comply with federal regulations for exit counseling enacted by the HEOA. The package also helps aid professionals deliver other important in-person messages to students during the counseling process.
This free package helps schools meet HEOA requirements while conveying important personal finance and debt management concepts to students. Complete with speaker notes and handouts, the exit counseling package features:
- An exit counseling PowerPoint presentation on CD-ROM to help financial aid administrators:
- Cover all federal exit counseling requirements through the use of detailed slides and handy speaker notes that expand on critical areas within the PowerPoint.
- Emphasize the borrowers’ rights and responsibilities.
- Explain the repayment process and outline options for borrowers experiencing financial difficulty.
- Educate students about budgeting and debt management principles.
- Increase awareness of loan indebtedness, highlight the importance of borrowing responsibly and explain the consequences of default.
- Test student comprehension with a quick quiz.
- An exit counseling checklist that summarizes the elements needed to comply with HEOA requirements and includes recommendations that help schools maximize the effectiveness of counseling sessions.
- An order form administrators can use to request copies of OGSLP’s Guide to Repaying Stafford & Grad PLUS Student Loans, a companion brochure which provides borrowers useful information about their rights and responsibilities and the repayment process.
