Oklahoma College App Week
Counselors, teachers and college access advocates,
It’s hard to believe the summer is coming to an end and another school year is starting, isn’t it? As you’re working to help your seniors prepare for life after high school, we invite you to participate in Oklahoma College App Week.
So, what is Oklahoma College App Week? College App Week is a nationally recognized and supported initiative to encourage all high school seniors to apply to at least one college of their choice. College App Week events are typically hosted at a high school, college or other organization that supports college access. This year, the Oklahoma College Access Network (OK-CAN) is partnering with the Oklahoma College Assistance Program (OCAP) and Oklahoma GEAR UP to expand the program statewide. And we’d love for your school to be a part of this exciting endeavor.
Why should your school or organization join the many other Oklahoma high schools, college campuses, technology centers and public libraries participating in College App Week?
- To encourage and support your high school seniors as they apply to the colleges of their choice
- It’s locally (Oklahoma GEAR UP, OCAP and OK-CAN) and nationally (ACAC) promoted and supported
- It’s FREE! Instructions, tools, materials and other resources are available to you at no cost
- Seniors will walk through the college application process aided by you and a group of volunteers of your choosing
- It increases the odds of seniors actually pursuing a college degree or other higher education credential
Register your school/organization as a College App Week participant today to sign up for the informational conference calls and to receive free posters and stickers (while supplies last).
In addition, if you’re not already a member of OK-CAN, consider joining this key networking organization for college access professionals today. Through OK-CAN, you can find helpful resources to strengthen your services to students and parents, receive technical assistance and professional development opportunities, and exchange information and ideas with peers who share your passion for expanding college access to all Oklahomans—and it’s all FREE!
