NSLDS Announces Enhancements for Enrollment Reporting
The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) released Newsletter #21 to inform schools of an enhancement designed to prevent errors in enrollment reporting.
NSLDS identified records in which the enrollment status changed, but the enrollment status effective date (ESED) was not updated. Because accurate enrollment status reporting is vital to effectively administering Title IV aid, NSLDS is expanding the use of Error Code 32 to apply when all the following conditions exist:
- The enrollment code reported differs from the current certified code and the code change shows a difference between active attendance and inactive attendance.
- The ESED reported is the same as the current ESED previously certified for the borrower at that school.
- The earliest certification of the current enrollment was reported one or more years prior to the current date.
- More than one certification has occurred for the current enrollment data.
