Financial Aid Awareness Week
To celebrate Gov. Brad Henry's proclamation of Feb. 24 through March 1 as "Financial Aid Awareness Week," we're highlighting some of the vital initiatives and activities OGSLP engages in throughout the year to promote the important messages of college access, community outreach, and financial literacy.
To name a few, OGSLP:
Provides college access information to parents and students through the Cash for College program (www.cashforcollegeok.info) and informative cable spots highlighting the FAFSA, resources for adult learners, and preparing for college.
Educates Oklahoma families about financial aid and personal finance through dynamic program development, effective media communications, and our innovative personal finance program, Oklahoma Money Matters.
Participates in a wide scope of outreach activities, including approximately 60 Oklahoma high school and college fairs in 2007.
Offers extensive customized financial education services that empower schools and lenders to provide publications, workshops, Web text, and various other resources covering a wide scope of personal finance topics, including budgeting, saving, credit, and student loan management.
Contacts borrowers prior to repayment to provide tools and information to help them successfully navigate the transition to repayment.
Offers students, parents, and counselors a one-stop shop for college planning resources through www.okcollegestart.org, the Web portal developed by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education in collaboration with OGSLP and Oklahoma colleges and universities and financially supported by OGSLP.
OGSLP is dedicated to providing outstanding service and comprehensive support as schools and lenders help students and families reach their educational and career goals. We're proud to be your state guarantor!
