New FAFSA Features Announced
The 2009-2010 FAFSA offers new features that will make it more accessible and ensure that completion is easier for students and parents. Beginning this year, the FAFSA will be available in English and Spanish. Demonstration versions can be viewed on the IFAP Web site and official versions that students can complete and schools can download and distribute are available on the Federal Student Aid Gateway Web site.
In addition, Federal Student Aid has launched a new initiative that will allow students and parents to complete the FAFSA over the phone in pilot states. FAFSA on the Phone (FOTP) provides customer service representatives to assist students and parents who may not have access to the FAFSA on the Web application. FOTP is currently available in Indiana, Rhode Island and West Virginia.
OGSLP is committed to helping students and parents realize the importance of applying for federal aid. In January, we released an informational advertisement to promote awareness and early completion of the FAFSA.
