How do your daily duties directly impact OGSLP's customers?
I supervise a team of staff that deals heavily with documentation processes. We distribute letters and forms to our borrowers so they can take advantage of beneficial programs like rehabilitation and consolidation, which will help them get their loans out of default and back on track financially.

What advice would you give to someone in our industry who's new to working with student loans?
Higher education is an important goal and millions of Americans use federal student loans to make it a reality. It’s important to remember that their goal is our goal – and never lose sight of that. I’m glad I’m able to assist students who default on their loans so they can restore their credit rating and continue their education.

What do you find most challenging about working with student loans?
Working within the provisions set forth by the Department of Education is an important challenge. By creating and revising processes and procedures as needed, we’re able to make sure we meet requirements and deadlines.

What are some of the unique services your department provides our customers?
My unit within the Recoveries department is the support unit not only for the collection floor, but also for our collection vendors. We provide specialty letters and mail out a vast amount of documents and forms at the request of our borrowers and collection agencies. We mail special documents such as copies of promissory notes, payment histories, repayment agreements and rehabilitation applications. We process incoming borrower correspondence, prepare monthly batches for rehabilitation and process EVCs. The list never ends!

What are your hobbies or interests?
My children are my every breath and my biggest interest. I coach my daughter’s ‘8 and under’ fast pitch team and I absolutely LIVE to watch my son play football. My husband and I own a 1969 SS 396 Chevelle, so drag racing is something we love to do, along with all the poker runs we can go on. I enjoy working out when I have a minute to spare, baking in the sun like a lizard and watching as much OU football as you can throw at me!
