Meet Our Outreach Team

Over the past several months, our Outreach Team has traveled all over Oklahoma to deliver important financial aid information to students and tell high school counselors about the free services we provide through UCanGo2, our college access program. This season, they’ve already participated in 61 regular college fairs and 6 counselor-only fairs, and are planning to attend even more throughout the year!

Who are these amazing people, you ask? They’re Penny Gandy, Kelli Kelnar, Theresa Battles and Letha Huddleston. Letha is the newest member of the team, having previously served three years as a specialist in our Default Prevention department, 10 years as a financial aid officer at City College and one year as their financial aid director.

Each one of these ladies brings something special to the OGSLP family. Let’s see what they have to say about serving our campus and community partners:

Theresa, what are some of the unique services your department provides our customers? We’ve developed awesome relationships with school and lender folks. We truly care about the success of students, schools and partners, and that enthusiasm encourages us to give 110% every day.

Kelli, what do you find most challenging about working in the student aid industry? Challenges are a constant. Over the past 25 years, I've worked both in college financial aid and as a lender representative, and there has never been a dull moment. Fortunately, these challenges are what make us strive harder to learn more and succeed.

Letha, what advice would you give to someone who's new to working in our industry? Take advantage of all available resources, because there’s a lot to learn! After working in a financial aid office and seeing the process from start to finish, I’m fully convinced that OGSLP is one of the best resources anyone in the financial aid industry could ever use.

Penny, what do you like most about leading our Outreach Team? It’s such a pleasure to work with a group of ladies who are so enthusiastic about helping students succeed. I’m able to see first-hand just how hard they work to help our colleagues assist students and help them reach their educational goals.
