Encyclo-Media Participants Preview UCanGo2 Toolkit
High school counselors and teachers play a vital role in encouraging and assisting students as they transition from high school to your campus. Soon, we’ll be launching our UCanGo2 High School Counselor Kit, a comprehensive resource about planning, preparing and paying for higher education with particular emphasis on information for first-generation college-going families.
Counselors attending the State Department of Education’s Encyclo-Media Conference later this month will be among the first to receive a sneak peek at this college planning package. OGSLP staff are conducting a session highlighting the student workbook, instructor’s guide and numerous supplemental resources, including the FAFSA Fundamentals package, countdown calendars, college fair worksheets, games and talking points for students, parents and administrators.
The instructional pieces of UCanGo2’s toolkit for high school counselors cover five main content areas:
- Why go to college?
- What do I want to be?
- How do I get there?
- Where do I go?
- How do I pay for it?
Each section includes worksheets, activities, lesson objectives and corresponding PowerPoint slides for high school counselors and teachers to use when presenting this information to students individually or in a group setting. Sessions can be completed in less than an hour.
Encourage your counselor and teacher colleagues to take advantage of this comprehensive kit as soon as it becomes available. Don’t forget to request your copy of our UCanGo2 FAFSA 101 courses, FAFSA Fundamentals and Focus on the FAFSA, which debuted in last month’s Online News.
