There’s Something (Special) About Mary

Mary Mowdy Mary Mowdy, OGSLP’s Executive Director, will retire on Sept. 30 after 14 years with the agency and three decades of service in higher education and financial aid. Mary’s extensive professional experiences have included service in the trenches as a campus financial aid counselor and later as a campus aid administrator, banking education loan specialist and guarantor customer service director.

Throughout her career, Mary remained committed to comprehensive student services and early awareness of the value of higher education for both traditional students and adult learners, and led development of college access, financial literacy and aid awareness initiatives, including OGSLP’s financial education program, Oklahoma Money Matters. A tireless advocate for students and the financial aid community, Mary has served on numerous aid industry committees and workgroups, including a term as chairman of the board of directors for the National Council on Higher Education Loan Programs and selection as a non-federal negotiator to prepare proposed regulations under Title IV for the U.S. Department of Education. Her passion and engagement have facilitated educational opportunities for Oklahomans, encouraging progressive and enlightened approaches to organizational management and influencing public policy in positive ways.

Mary, your expertise, sound counsel and wit are widely recognized and appreciated by OGSLP staff and your colleagues in Oklahoma and across the country. You’ll be missed!  We wish you the best of luck in your new adventures.
