UCanGo2’s New Mission
Thanks to great partners like you, UCanGo2 has become a valued source of information and materials for planning, preparing and paying for college. Each year, our K-12 and community partners invite us to provide more workshops and training sessions for students and parents throughout the state.
Recent reductions in OCAP’s federal funding model require us to streamline the scope of our college access programs and services. We’ve chosen to focus even more on empowering YOU to utilize the UCanGo2 teaching tools we’ve shared over the past several years. We’re also narrowing the focus of our direct student services, which will be primarily available for juniors and seniors who are preparing for the transition from high school to college.
As a UCanGo2 partner, here’s what you can expect going forward.
- An expanded emphasis on counselor training and workshops. We’d like to offer you the tools, resources and training you need to educate the students and parents you serve about planning, preparing, and paying for college throughout the year. Our goal is to help you make the most of the time you spend teaching college planning concepts, and make your preparation process easier.
- Student workshops focused on high school juniors, seniors, and their parents. UCanGo2’s college planning and financial aid experts will continue to provide workshops for students and parents, with a specific emphasis on working with juniors and seniors through the transition process from high school to college. As always, workshop requests from our campus and community partners will be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to staff availability.
- More online publications. While we’ll still provide printed materials for use by our campus and community partners, including our High School Counselor Toolkit, FAFSA toolkit and, as inventory allows, classroom sets of our various tools, we’re busy making many of our signature publications more suitable for uploading and printing from UCanGo2.org. This includes our resources for middle school educators, counselors, students and parents, which will now be offered exclusively online.
If you have questions about our programs and services, or want to discuss how UCanGo2 can support your college access efforts, please don’t hesitate to contact us at UCanGo2@ocap.org, 405.234.4239 or 866.443.7420 (toll free).
