UCanGo2 Connections: November 2026 – National Scholarship Month
National Scholarship Month
Need money for college? Scholarships are a form of “gift aid” that will help your students cover college expenses. If federal and state aid aren’t enough, scholarships can provide an additional source of funding.
UCanGo2 offers trusted scholarship resources to help students search, apply for, and earn scholarships. Visit UCanGo2.org to explore scholarships with November and December deadlines, along with publications designed to support students throughout the scholarship process. Students can find even more scholarship opportunities at OKcollegestart.org.
And speaking of scholarship$…
More students are eligible for the Oklahoma’s Promise Scholarship than ever before! Children of certified teachers who have taught in public schools for 10 years or more can now enroll with special income provisions, increasing their chances of being awarded our state’s premiere scholarship.
Visit OKPromise.org/Special-Income-Provisions/ for more details.
High school seniors can now apply for Oklahoma’s Promise until December 31, 2026! The online application is available at OKPromise.org.
New FAFSA Handout for Parents
We have great news for parents of high school seniors! There’s a new handout designed for parents that leads them through their portion of the 2027-28 FAFSA called FAFSA Steps for Parents. If a student completes their section of the FAFSA while a parent is unavailable, this resource provides step-by-step guidance so parents can later complete their contributor section and help ensure the FAFSA is successfully submitted. We hope this new tool makes the process easier for families and helps even more students complete the FAFSA this year.

November is Veterans’ Month
Each November, we honor those who have served their country in any branch of the military. There are many education benefits and programs that help veterans, service members and their qualified family members with needs relating to higher education. We hope you’ll explore these websites and learn how to apply for the education and training benefits you’ve earned.

2027-28 FAFSA
The 2027-28 FAFSA is now available, and recent updates make the application process faster and easier for students and families. Encourage your seniors to create their StudentAid.gov accounts before starting the FAFSA so they’re prepared to complete this Oklahoma high school graduation requirement.
Most students will also need parent information on their FAFSA. In many cases, one or both parents will need to create their own StudentAid.gov account before the application can be submitted.
To help families determine which parent should be included on the FAFSA and whether one or both parents need an account, direct them to the “Who should enter as a parent on the FAFSA form?” resource at StudentAid.gov.
| Need help completing the FAFSA? UCanGo2 offers free FAFSA workshops to assist students and families through the application process. To request a workshop, complete the workshop request form at UCanGo2.org, and we will contact you as soon as possible. If you have questions about the FAFSA, financial aid or the college planning process, contact us at UCanGo2@ocap.org or call 866-443-7420. We’re here to help students and families navigate the path to education after high school. |
