UCanGo2 Connections

UCanGo2 Connections: August 2026 – CH-CH-CH-CH-CHANGES 🎶

The UCanGo2 team has been busy this summer making marvelous changes to our website and our publications in preparation for the 2027-28 FAFSA, which launches Oct. 1. Our goal is simple. We want to make your job easier by providing you with accurate, up-to-date FAFSA and college access information — all day, every day!

Remember, UCanGo2 is now housed within the OKcollegestart.org website. You can still find us by visiting UCanGo2.org, which will take you directly to our resources and tools!

Here are some updates you should know about.

Using the ITIN

A new FAFSA update allows contributors with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to securely transfer their federal tax information directly into the FAFSA form. This enhancement improves data accuracy, strengthens fraud prevention measures and helps streamline financial aid eligibility determinations. We will update our FAFSA resources as additional guidance becomes available.

College Planning Checklists

The UCanGo2 college planning checklists have always been among our most popular publications — and for good reason! Organized by grade level (K-12), these resources guide students and families through important college and career planning milestones, including study habits, campus visits, financial aid preparation, scholarship searches and more. If your budget allows, print copies early so they’re ready to distribute when the fall semester begins. You can also share our College Readiness Publications page with students and families for easy digital access to these valuable resources.

The FAFSA in Real Time

The FAFSA process is becoming faster and more secure.

  • With real-time FAFSA processing, students and contributors can receive their FAFSA Submission Summary and confirmed Student Aid Index (SAI) upon submission.
  • Any subsequent corrections made to the FAFSA are done without the 1-to-3 day processing delay.
  • Immediate fraud alerts and identity verification notifications also help applicants address potential issues right away, reducing delays and protecting sensitive information.

Together, these improvements help students and families complete the financial aid process with greater confidence and receive aid offers sooner.

Federal Student Loans

Significant federal student loan changes took effect July 1, 2026, impacting borrowing limits, repayment options and loan eligibility for future borrowers. To help students, families, and counselors understand these updates, Oklahoma Money Matters has developed new resources, updated guidance and created loan limit charts for the 2026-27 academic year. Visit OklahomaMoneyMatters.org to learn about the latest federal student loan changes, review current borrowing limits and access tools to help students make informed decisions about paying for college.

Learn about the 2026-2027 federal student loan limits at our partner website, OklahomaMoneyMatters.org.

UCanGo2 is here to support students and families with clear, practical guidance — at no cost.
