UCanGo2 Connections: October 2026 – 2027-28 FAFSA

2027-2028 FAFSA

The 2027-28 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now available at FAFSA.gov. Completing the FAFSA is one of the most important steps students can take to pay for college expenses. The FAFSA serves as the application for federal financial aid, including grants, work-study opportunities, and student loans. In many cases, it’s also used to determine eligibility for state aid, institutional aid from colleges and universities, and some scholarships.

For Oklahoma high school seniors, FAFSA completion is also a graduation requirement, making it more important than ever for educators, students, and parents to have access to reliable resources and support. Visit UCanGo2.org to explore our new FAFSA publications, college planning tools, and step-by-step guidance to help students complete the FAFSA and maximize their financial aid opportunities.

StudentAid.Gov Account

Before completing the FAFSA, students and any required parent contributors must create a StudentAid.gov account. This account allows users to securely access, complete and electronically sign the FAFSA. Our StudentAid.gov Account Worksheet, available in both English and Spanish, provides step-by-step guidance through the account creation process and offers a place to record important account information. Be sure to store this document in a safe and secure location for future reference.

Not sure which parent needs a StudentAid.gov account? Our Who Needs a StudentAid.gov Account? Worksheet can help families determine whether one or both parents must create an account before completing the FAFSA. Understanding who needs an account ahead of time can help avoid delays and make the FAFSA filing process smoother.

What is the FAFSA Data Portal?

The Oklahoma FAFSA Data Portal is a free online tool to help school counselors in Oklahoma track their seniors’ FAFSA completion. It allows counselors, principals and educators to provide targeted assistance to their students, which is instrumental in increasing FAFSA completion rates.

The 2027-28 FAFSA Data Portal is now live. If you have not submitted your list of seniors for the FAFSA match, now is the time to do so. If you’ve already sent us your student list, log in to the portal to access and monitor your students’ FAFSA completion status.

For more information on the FAFSA Data Portal, please visit okhighered.org/ok-fdp/. If you want to check on the status of your school’s participation in the FAFSA Data Portal, please contact us at FAFSAportal@OCAP.org.
