Reconciliation Bill Signed by President Obama
As shared in our Legislative Update last week, H.R. 4872, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, was signed March 30 by President Obama. The measure includes the elimination of new lending under the FFEL Program, increases Pell Grants and expands the Income Based Repayment Program, among other provisions.

On April 2, 2010, ED published a Dear Colleague Letter that contains a high-level description of two financial aid-related issues contained in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (HCERA).
ED Announces Revised Borrower Applications
On March 24, 2010, ED provided revised versions of five discharge applications for borrowers in the FFEL, DL and Perkins programs.
