ED Publishes Draft Self-Certification Form for Comment

The Department of Education (ED) invites public comment on the proposed Private Education Loan Application Self-Certification Form. This form is pursuant to section 155 of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA), and to satisfy the requirements of section 128(e)(3) of the Truth in Lending Act (TILA). TILA requires a lender to obtain a self-certification signed by the applicant before disbursing a private education loan. Interested persons are invited to submit comments on or before Dec. 1, 2009. Additional information can be found in the Oct. 2 edition of the Federal Register.
